Celebrating 39 Editions of Artistic Excellence: CIFAC Returns to Chelsea with Agora Gallery
Every summer, the Chelsea art district becomes the stage for one of New York’s most dynamic showcases of emerging and established talent: the Chelsea International Fine Art Competition. Now in its 39th edition, this much-anticipated event is more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of creativity, opportunity, and a long-standing collaboration that continues to shape the careers of contemporary artists worldwide.
A Legacy of Collaboration Between NYAC and Agora Gallery
At the heart of this success story lies the powerful partnership between New York Art Competitions (NYAC) and Agora Gallery, one of Chelsea’s most respected contemporary art spaces. For nearly four decades, Agora has hosted exhibitions of artists selected through CIFAC, providing them not just with wall space—but with a place in the vibrant ecosystem of the New York art world.
This collaboration has given international visibility to hundreds of artists over the years, and continues to be one of the most prestigious prizes offered to those selected by our independent jurors.
More Than a Prize: A Gateway to the Art World
Unlike many other art competitions, CIFAC doesn’t just stop at awarding titles. The selected artists receive the opportunity to exhibit their work in Chelsea, the epicenter of New York’s contemporary art scene. This year’s exhibition will be held at Agora Gallery from August 20 to 27, 2025, with a public opening reception on August 21, from 6 to 8 PM.
The selected artists—chosen by a panel of respected curators and art professionals—represent a wide variety of styles, backgrounds, and media. From painting and sculpture to mixed media, their work shares a common trait: the power to spark curiosity, dialogue, and emotion.
A Juried Process That Elevates Excellence
The 2025 edition was juried by a distinguished panel:
- Molly Scheu Boarati, independent curatorial consultant
- Donna Harkavy, curator and Museum Advisory Board member at the Munson-Williams-Procter Arts Institute
- Nico W. Okoro, curator, writer, and founder of BLDG Fund, LLC
Their task: to identify originality, craftsmanship, and conceptual strength in an overwhelming number of global submissions. The final selection reflects both a deep curatorial vision and a desire to celebrate artistic voices that deserve greater exposure.
